I am a primatologist and animal welfare scientist, with more than two decades of experience working within zoological, sanctuary, and research institutions. My career has included on-the-ground professional roles in the United States, Europe, and Africa, alongside leadership of large, multi-institution research programs and the development of practical tools for welfare monitoring and evaluation.
My consulting work is grounded in three core principles: independence of judgment, scientific rigor, and ethical responsibility to the animals and institutions involved. I am typically engaged where interpretation, synthesis, and defensible decision-making are required—rather than routine service provision.
In addition to evaluation and expert analysis, I work with organizations on the development of welfare frameworks, institutional standards, and long-term program strategy. I also provide professional training and invited workshops internationally. Limited career advising is offered selectively, typically by referral.
I publish and write under the name Katherine A. Cronin. My author website containing public and scientific writing is KatherineCronin.net.
